Mixed Media Art Journal Share: Fly Like A Bird

Recently I am in a moving process and super busy at work...Anyways, I just do not have time to craft... However, art journal is a faster way for me satisfy some of my crave for crafting. This is not the best booking art journal, but at least I had a lot of fun doing it. Hope you enjoy it too.

1. Gesso your background. I gessoed over a doodle I did that I don't like. So, I just covered it..

2. Use a stamp of multiple stamps to stamp all over your page. Right now it looks very overwhelming because of all the stamping. But after you put colors and drawing on your page, only a some of the stamping will show up. Oh, and it is for adding extra texture to the page.

3. Add your favorite color

4. I used texture paste to add additional texture and I paint over my page with water-downed gesso to make the background not so bright. And I drew a bird too..

5. I added some green color to the page just because I like green. lol
I also paint over the bird with gesso so I can paint the bird more easily.

6. I painted the bird, added some journaling, rubbed some rub-on, and added a piece of paper at the button of the page to represent ground.

Lindy's Stamp Gang July Color Challenge and DT Call Entry (Altered Tin Bucket)

Hi there, it's been a while since I do some mixed media altering project. This project is created for the Lindy's stamp gang july color challenge and for Lindy's DT call. So, with the love I have for Lindy's Stamp Gang and for mixed media project, here is my altered tin bucket.

The color challenge's rule is to use at least two colors from the following color combo:

Here is the project I created. I used several different shades of red and blue on this project. All the paints are from Lindy's Stamp Gang. The Lindy's Stamp Gang product I used are: Alpine Ice Rose from Icicle Creek Magical set, Whale Watch Blue from Nantucket Pearl Magical set, Frosted Forget Me Nots from Icicle Creek Magical set, Baby Blue Eyes Aqua Starburst Spray, Cotton Candy Pink Starburst Spray, and Blue Hawaiian Blue from Drink Me Silly Shot set.

The bucket is covered with news paper and is gessoed. After the gesso is dried, I mixed Alpine Ice Rose Whale Watch Blue, and Frosted Forget Me Nots magicals with glazing medium and using my pallette knife to add the paint to the bucket. After the glaze was dried, I sprayed the bucket with  Baby Blue Eyes Aqua and Cotton Candy Pink .
I cut some fish net, gessoed it, and added Alpine Ice Rose glaze . To add more texture, I added some moss. The moss has some splatter of Alpine Ice Rose  glaze as well. Embellishments are tucked behind and on top of the fish net. The Blue Hawaiian Blue color shot was mixed with glazing medium and is added to embellishments along with the magical glaze I mentioned above.

I really hope you enjoy this creation. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Scrapbook Layout: Cat

This is a layout I created for the July Challenge of Once Upon A Sketch and July Challenge of Berry71bleu. The background strips are cut out from a wood pannel designed page in fairy rhymes collection. All the flowers are cut out from prima rondelle collection. The color theme in this layout is inspired by the photo.
The sketch used from Once Upon A Sketch is

I had a lot fun creating this layout. Sometimes a layout will take me several days because the creativity is just not here. But I did not stop a minute when I was creating this layout. Hope you like it too:)

Scrapbook Layout: Vacation #1

This photo is taken from our vacation in NYC last month. The color theme is inspired by the color of my boyfriend's shirt, the blue color of my shirt, the green color of the statue of liberty, and the little bit of coral color on my scarf. There is a lot of fussy cutting in this layout because I want to challenge myself not to use flowers to embellish (even though there are flower pattern in the cut outs).

This layout is created for the June Challenge in berry71bleu

Homemade Glimmer Texture Paste

I LOVE glimmer modeling paste but they are expensive to buy. A two-ounce jar of glimmer texture paste can cost you 7 DOLLARS. If you want a lot more glimmer texture paste than just a jar, there are cheaper ways that you can use to produce your own glimmer modeling paste.

What you need is:
  1. Iridescent Medium (I got this from Hobby Lobby for $8.99, but trust me, this stuff can last you forever and you can do soooo many things with it, like making your own glimmer paint glaze.)
  2. Baby Powder
  3. Glazing medium, or gel medium, or mod podge, or regular glue, or anything like that...
There are no particular ratio of each ingredient because everyone prefers different consistency. What I did is that I add 1/3 of iridescent medium and 1/3 of the baby powder. The result can be quite thick, so add glazing medium or mod podge to your "taste" until you reach the consistency you want.

The result turns out to be wonderful. It is creamy and can hold its shape very well. It dries fast and is flexible after it's dried.

Go and try it out. You can add whatever color you want to match your project.

It's finally spring here!! So I decided to do some picture of flowers although this picture was taken a year ago...I don't do layouts too often but I definitely enjoy doing them a lot. My goal is to do more cards and layouts. I have been doing too many altering projects.

This layout used the sketch #90 from Skethabilities

The background is created using shimmerz spray.
The paper I used for the banner is from prima nature garden
Most of the flowers are from recollection.
Stencils are from CWS
